Dog Agility Class Details

Classes consists of 5 dog per group and run between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm on a Tuesday and Thursday. These classes are 90 minutes long. On a Tuesday and Wednesday evening I have specific classes appointed for the more advanced and competing students and dogs.

All our equipment is made to the current Kennel Club specifications, and all dog agility training takes place in a secure well maintained training field in Beverley near Hull (in Spring and Summer), and Indoors at Nafferton (in Winter). All contact equipment at the field is GALICAN and First Contact.

Everyone must start somewhere, and no previous dog agility experience is necessary. Basic obedience should be mastered before starting dog agility and regularly supported throughout your agility journey.

  • The beginners' classes are the ideal place to start your agility journey. In these classes you will learn the foundation work to help you progress through all the aspects of dog agility training.

Dogs need to be a minimum of 6 months old to considered for a place, they should already have some understanding of life skills, socialisation and basic obedience including a recall.

  • As you progress training will include sequencing, contact obstacles, and weave training. This stage is ideal for someone who just wants to carry on with their agility training for fun or would like to take the next step to start competing.

  • By this level the dogs and handlers will have a good understanding of all the agility equipment, will possibly be competing or enjoy running higher level fun classes. Sequences will start to be more challenging with the aim of building more confidence, skills and independence whilst walking then running a course.

  • The advanced classes are for competing dogs, the challenges and sequences set are at a much higher level. Skills are constantly worked on and improved. More handling options are given to expand both ours and our dogs understanding with the aim of being more effective when running a course.

Client Testimonial

I’ve been training with Jason at Agility at wagtails since early 2023, over the time we have progressed so much, I have a hound mix (which arguably would have no place in an agility ring) and Jason has taken the challenge training myself & my hound in his stride, to a point now where we are not just competing at local monthly shows but we are consistently challenging for a podium, non of this would be possible without Jason, his dedication to the sport and his students is 2nd to non, the other students are super friendly and supportive to which we have bonded into a community with everyone supporting each others achievements from building a start line wait to conquering some lovely courses, Jason takes safety of his students and their dogs very seriously and is regularly updating his equipment to current industry leading products from companies such as Galician, we owe so much of our success to Jason and his passion to get the very best out of us and our dogs, 100% recommend agility at wagtails to anyone looking for an agility trainer regardless of your current level, wether you’re just starting out on your journey or a championship handler competing at the highest level.
